What is the WCDA Thanksgiving Showcase?
The WCDA will return to Las Vegas for the 4th year in a row to participate as part of the Las Vegas Thanksgiving Classic. Like last year, on Saturday, the event will feature two special games: an all-academic all-star match composed of high school seniors and an all-star game composed of high school seniors from all 30 clubs.
Who is the host?
Nevada Youth Soccer Association is the host of the event, which has been renamed The Las Vegas Thanksgiving Classic. The tournament website is located here: http://www.lvthanksgivingclassic.com/
When is the event?
Thanksgiving weekend: Friday, November 29th to Sunday, December 1st.
What is the cost?
The tournament entry fee is $825 and is payable through your Got Soccer account.
How do I register?
We will provide more information later in the summer.
What Colleges are Attending?
As we get closer to the event we will be posting a list of all the college coaches pre-registered for the event.
What about hotels?
The Thanksgiving Classic is a stay and play event, which means that you must use hotels approved by Nevada Youth Soccer.
We will be providing more information at a later date.
Where are the games played?
All WCDA games will be played at two locations, conveniently located just two miles apart: the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex and The Kellogg Zaher Soccer Complex.
Any Special Events?
All-Star Games: there will be two special games that will showcase the best and brightest players in the WCDA:
- All-Academic All-Star Game for high school seniors; and
- All-Star Games for juniors and seniors who have not yet committed to college
College Coach Reception: there will also be a catered college coach’s reception on Friday night at Terrible’s Casino.
Why should college coaches attend?
1. See some of the brightest soccer talent from the western United States in one, convenient location.
2. Treat yourself to a great weekend in Las Vegas. The WCDA will be hosting a catered Coach’s Reception on Friday, November 29th.
3. Team profiles books will be provided free of charge.
4. All U16-U18 WCDA games will be played at one location to maximize viewing opportunities.
5. Contiguous fields and 80-minute game allow for easy identification and evaluation of players.
