WCDA Thanksgiving Showcase
November 25-27, 2011

What is the WCDA Thanksgiving Showcase?

The WCDA will return to Las Vegas to participate as part of the Las Vegas Thanksgiving Classic.  Like last year, on Saturday, the event will feature two special games: an all-academic all-star match composed of high school seniors and an all-star game composed of high school seniors from all 30 clubs. 

Who is the host?

Nevada Youth Soccer Association is the host of the event, which has been renamed The Las Vegas Thanksgiving Classic. 

When is the event?

Thanksgiving weekend: Friday, November 25th to Sunday, November 27th.

What is the cost?

The tournament entry fee is included in the WCDA fee that teams have already paid.

Where are the games played?

All WCDA games will be played at two locations, conveniently located just two miles apart: the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex and The Kellogg Zaher Soccer Complex.

When are the first and last games played?

The earliest WCDA games will kick off at 1:15 pm on Friday afternoon. The final WCDA games at the event kickoff at 3:00 pm on Sunday. Some age groups will start later on Friday and will end earlier on Sunday. We have begun publishing the schedules for the age groups. So, please check the schedule page for the latest. 

Any Special Events?

All-Star Games: there will be two special games that will showcase the best and brightest players in the WCDA:

  • All-Academic All-Star Game for high school seniors; and
  • U18 All-Star Game for players who have not yet committed to college

98/99 Identification Program: This program provides an identification path toward the US Youth National Team program. Sixty-four players born in 1999 and and 64 players born in 1998 from WCDA clubs will be invited to train with four college coaches at the event. Mario Mora, US Youth Nationa Team Scout, will oversee the program at the event. There is no cost to the player to be scouted or recommended for this WCDA program. Click here for more.

College Coach Reception: there will also be a catered college coach’s reception on Friday night.

Why should college coaches attend?

1.    See some of the brightest soccer talent from the western United States in one, convenient location. 

2.     Treat yourself to a great weekend in Las Vegas. The WCDA will be hosting a catered Coach’s Reception on Friday, November 25th.

3.    Team profiles books will be provided free of charge.

4.    All U16-U18 WCDA games will be played at one location to maximize viewing opportunities.

5.    Contiguous fields and 80-minute game allow for easy identification and evaluation of players.
